After a week of investigating the insulating properties of materials we finished with a class challenge. Each team had to design and make an 'up-cycled' insulating toast carrier to take their group's toast to the top of the hill in the arboretum. Each group had a different design, but they all took lessons away from our experiments in the week in their choice of materials. When we got to the top, we were delighted to discover that all of the toast was still piping hot! On our way down the hill we collected blackberries for next week's appliance of science...
